Sunstone introduces a new handpiece that is lighter and smaller than other pistol-style handpieces. The Mini Grip, as it's called, is a light-duty handpiece that will reduce operator fatigue. The handpiece's smaller size and lighter weight make it an obvious choice for jobs that require a high number of repetitive welds or when the operator must hold the handpiece in an awkward position for extended periods of time.
The Mini Grip weighs only 12.8 ounces (with cables) and measures 3.75 inches long by 4.5 inches tall by 0.8 inches wide. You'll find the Mini Grip easy to hold, with or without gloves, and may become your go-to hand piece for nearly any micro weld.
When the Sunstone team began to look at introducing a smaller, lighter handpiece they started first with the hand grip. As a result, the Mini Grip feels good in your hand with its contoured design and non-slip textured handle. Let me point out that the Mini Grip's cables exit from the bottom of the handle, making it much easier to use than other handpieces—they stay out of the way when welding.
The Mini Grip accepts any 1/8 inch electrode using a collet system for expanded usability and flexibility, while sporting an easy-to-use trigger button. Designed for light work, the Mini Grip is ideal for any job requiring less than 200 Ws of energy, connecting to the power source with 8 AWG cables measuring six feet in length.
What applications are ideal for the Mini Grip?
The Mini Grip is an ideal solution for strain gauge welding, more so when paired with Sunstone's battery operated, portable CD welder, the Scout. The Mini Grip will also pair well with a Sunstone SPM, Sunstone CDDP, or the fully digital Sunstone CDDP-A.
